Two earthquakes in Seattle have nothing to do with the recent California earthquake

The Puget Sound area of Washington, DC, was hit by an earthquake this morning, in British Columbia, Canada, and the Cascade Mountains. The eastern part of Washington State felt the shock.

The Associated Press reported that no reports of injuries or damage have been reported.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) pointed out that the magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck the Three Lakes, about 64 kilometers northwest of Seattle. A few minutes later, a magnitude 3.5 earthquake occurred near Monroe, 48 kilometers northeast of Seattle.

USGS geophysicist David Caruso said today’s earthquake is not linked to recent earthquakes in California.
